The authentic Isis amulet is mold made from Egyptian faience. Isis is
seated
and wears a crown.
Isis, the Divine Mother, symbol of fertility and rebirth is presented
here
strung with nicely crafted hand cut new yellow jade scarabs with square
laborite spacer beads and beautiful faceted red/orange carnelian. The
necklace has a sterling silver toggle clasp and a few copper beads on
the end
points. The amulet is pierced horizontally for suspension.
Egyptian olive greenish / blue faience Isis amulet, the goddess is
depicted
in a seated position; the amulet is pierced horizontally for
suspension. Isis
was the sister-wife to Osiris and the mother of Horus. Best known
mythologically as the devoted wife of Osiris, whose body she sought,
after
his murder by his brother Seth. She is said to have made the first
mummy from
the dismembered limbs of Osiris, using her wings to breathe life into
him and
magically conceiving her son, Horus in the process.
Isis was the goddess of 10,000 names; the most widely worshipped deity
of the
ancient Mediterranean world. She in all her forms has been the central
feminine archetype of God worshipped throughout the near east and
Europe for
thousands of years. Pendants like this one were considered amulets of
protection. Egyptians wore jewelry not only for its inherent value but
for
the protection of their gods and goddesses. The crown consists of the
solar
disk and the horns of the cow symbolizing the moon.
